Spring Newsletter 2010
Greetings from your humble Editor:
With Spring Showers come warmth and many May flowers, and dog shows, and field, obedience and agility trials, and long walks in the sunshine, trips to lakes, cottages and so on. Remember to check your dogs for ticks, which are becoming more prevalent and have been moving into parts of the country not previously seen. I also noticed that at my vet’s clinic there was news that heartworm incidents have also been increasing. Many breeders do not give heartworm medication, and in previous years, the cooler Canadian weather suggested that perhaps this was ok. However, the shifting pattern - likely part of a broader climate change - may cause people to revisit their views. PCC doesn’t advocate either choice (treatment or non), but it does seem that changing weather patterns means that each of us should periodically refresh our own views with input from our vets. On that note, take care of your pointers and your beloved pets this Spring and Summer season as you’re enjoying the wonderful weather!

Another Short Story by Mark the Pointer
(Ch. Perryglen’s Mark of Distinction FDJ FD FDX AGN AGNJ)
Mark here.... I know I have not written in awhile but my social calendar has just been too full what with bird work, agility, keeping Molly in line.... Do you know that she still tries to steal my dinner? What nerve!!! Well Mom is now convinced that I have been "blessed" by two different variants of the T gene. One is the "Truck" gene. You must admit it is soooo much easier waiting for Mom by the truck when she gets lost in the woods. I know she will always come back to the truck eventually. The second is the "Terrier" gene. We were practising weave poles last night and I saw something out of the corner of my eye. Point, heck why am I pointing, GET IT, grab, at this point Mom screams. Okay, I guess I should have stayed on point to allow her to get up to speed and join in the fun but it was getting awayyyyyy. So now I am standing there with this thing in my mouth and a tail hanging out of the side of my face tickling my lips. Boy Mom can sure spoil all the fun : ( I spit it out as requested but like I said the T gene was in full play and I must admit there was crunch somewhere in the sequence of events. I am suppose to ask you to double check and see if one of those Schnauzers shows up somewhere in my pedigree.

THE ENGLISH POINTER IN 2013
Now that altogether 27 Pointer Clubs and/or pointermen- women from many nations have declared their sympathy to promote 2013 into a Historical Pointer Year, plans should be developed about the events to take place in that year.
Enclosed you will find proposals from our side. But, like also quoted in enclosed document, please feel free to adjust them or promote your own ideas. The events should be supported by all concerned. In such a manner that all of us can have the feeling that the interest of the national clubs are represented in that year.
We have done our best to make the mailing list as complete as possible. Although not all the correct names of persons in charge are known to us. Please give us your corrections so that we can update this mailing list, which is part of the enclosure.
With best Pointer Greetings,
Comité Pointer 2013
