The first Coquetel Pointer, Am/Can Ch. Ry-Hi’s It Had To Be You, (Ithby) arrived in 1972 due to a wonderful friendship with Beryl Hirshberger, Ry-Hi Pointers. Ithby’s lineage can be traced back to Richland Kennels, of Mary and the late Frank “Flea” Richmond fame. We delved back into this lovely old line of pointers when we received a gift from the Richmond’s of Ch. Richland’s Rose of Coquetel, (Rosie) from whom our rising stars are the sixth generation of direct descendants. Our pointer breeding program has evolved into the 21st century with much of the management and decisions being executed by our daughter Genevieve. Thanks to her interest and dedication to the breed, we have seen the first Coquetel pointers with Obedience, Rally, and Field Titles in both Canada and the USA, and St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Certification, in addition to completing conformation titles.
